Hartford Men's Tennis Falls Short Against University of Saint Joseph

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford men's tennis team could not defeat cross-town rival University of Saint Joseph on Wednesday falling by a 4-3 final score in Conference of New England (CNE) action. 

Rapid Recap:
  • The Hawks took the doubles point sweeping all three groupings. The Blue Jays had to forfeit the third pairing.  Sophomore Anthony Pomares (Norwich, N.Y.) and freshman Yande Simunyola (Dawsonville, Ga.) would win in the top doubles slot by a 6-2 final. Sophomore Jake Short (Poughquag, N.Y.) and freshman Eli Benoit (Plainville, Conn.) won the #2 doubles by a 6-2 final as well. 
  • In singles play Simunyola picked up the third point for Hartford winning 6-4, 6-0 in #2 singles. Freshman Thomas Andersen (Berlin, Conn.) also secured a point in #6 singles winning via forfeit. The Blue Jays would pick up four singles win to pick up the conference win.

The Hawks will next take on the University of New England on Saturday with a 1:00 PM start in Maine.
