WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford women's tennis team earned their first win of the season today on Tuesday, September 29th after defeating conference opponent Suffolk 5-2.

The Hawks opened the match by taking two of three doubles contests. During doubles, junior Victalia Z. Deida (New Haven, Conn.) and graduate student Lia Gosselin (South Bend, Ind.) earned a 6-4 victory over Suffolk's Julia Lanczycki and Chloe Burns. With their second doubles win graduate student Jessica Marks (Hartford, Conn.) and graduate student Lora Acquario (East Nassau, N.Y.) picked up a 6-3 win over Morgan Plitt and Palina Vialichka. Suffolk claimed a victory of their own in the doubles match, as Nia Bebb and Callie Clark defeated Isabelle Simino (Franklin, Mass.) and Maddie Pearlman 7-6 and then 7-4 in the tiebreaker set.

In singles play, the Hawks continued to play strong across the lineup. Pearlman earned her first win of the season with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Chloe Burns. Deida followed with a strong performance defeating Callie Clark 6-3, 7-5.

Hartford secured another singles victory where junior Natalie Lamb (Glastonbury, Conn.) battled Morgan Plitt before earning the win. Suffolk picked up victories while Hartford added its fifth team point to close out the match with a 5-2 victory.

The Hawks will hit the road to take on Gordon College Saturday, October 3rd at 11:00 AM to continue conference play. Â
