HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford men's soccer team dropped its first contest of 2026 on Sunday evening falling to Trinity College by a 1-0 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Batams would get two chances in the first five minutes with junior Cristian Vitti (Stamford, Conn.) making an early save. Hartford would get their first chance in the 14th minute as junior Jared Noble (Nesconset, N.Y.) hit a shot saved by Jake Davis. Vitti would make another save in the 36th minute denying Cameron Linehan. Trinity would get on the board in the 42nd minute as Charles Desautels got the goal on an assist from Owen Myers as the half ended with a 1-0 score in favor of the home team.
- The Hawks would generate the first chance of the half as freshman Giancarlo Bacabac (Somers, Conn.) would get a shot on drawing a save from Davis. The Bantams would get two shots in the next 10 minutes but both missed the frame as the game held 1-0 heading into the final 20 minutes. Vitti would make saves three, four and five from the 73rd minute to the 83rd minute denying the Bantams from adding to their lead. The Hawks could not generate anything forward falling by the 1-0 final after the 90 minutes concluded.
Inside the Numbers:
- Vitti picked up his first loss of the season making five saves in the 90 minutes.
- Desautels scored the first goal of the season for Trinity in the win while Davis would stop two shots in the shutout win.
- Trinity out shot the Hawks by a 15-5 margin and a 6-2 on target differential.
