Dani Britt

Dani Britt enters her third season as a member of the Hartford women's soccer team's coaching staff in 2021. A former standout goalkeeper at America East Conference member UAlbany, Britt joined the staff as an assistant coach in July 2019.

In Britt’s first season in 2019 — a year that saw Hartford advance to the 2019 America East Championship’s Title Game where it came one win shy of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament — the Hawks’ defensive line proved to be one of the stingiest in the league. Posting a 1.00 goals-against average for the second-best mark in the America East, the Hawks finished atop the conference’s statistics in save percentage (.822) and saves (136).

Britt has also been instrumental in the development of goalkeeper Maia Perez. As a junior in 2019, Perez posted a 0.95 GAA and an .822 save percentage, which led to her earning  NEWISA All-New England Third Team and America East All-Conference Second Team honors that season. She enters the 2021 campaign ranked among the top goalkeepers in program history, as she is No. 7 all-time in both wins (24) and goals-against average (1.06), No. 8 in saves (206), No. 9 in save percentage (.777) and No. 10 in shutouts (12).

Hartford’s exemplary work in the classroom has also continued since Britt’s arrival. This past semester, 22 of 23 women’s soccer student-athletes posted a 3.0 GPA or higher, including a department-best eight that earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. Furthermore, the team’s 3.74 GPA for the 2020-21 academic year was the second-highest mark among Hartford’s 17 Division I programs.

Prior to arriving at Hartford, Britt spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Smith College. As a goalkeeper coach, she guided Shelby Hall to a career-best season in 2017 that featured 113 saves and six shutouts, which doubled her total from her previous season. Britt also contributed to managing the team’s budget, assisted in development and directed camps and clinics at Smith.

A four-year starting goalkeeper at UAlbany from 2010-14, Britt began her collegiate coaching career at the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2016 as an assistant coach. At RIT, she assisted the head coach in day-to-day operations and worked primarily with the goalkeepers.

Britt has also served as a Micro Soccer Summer League Coach, where she taught basic game concepts, rules and technical skills to children between the ages of 6-9. She also ran ODP goalkeeping sessions for boys and girls of all age groups, and worked with Oakwood Soccer Club (Glastonbury, Conn.) as a coach.

A team captain at UAlbany as a senior, Britt graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history and sociology with a minor in biology.
