WEST HARTFORD, Conn – The University of Hartford volleyball team fell to the Great Danes of Albany (25-13, 25-17, 19-25, 25-15) in an America East match-up on Friday evening. Senior outside hitter Sareeta Nethersole led the Hawks (15-12, 3-6 AE) with 14 digs and a game-best 17 kills to record her 18^th double-double of the year. 

As a team, the Hawks saw their best offense in their lone set win recording a .344 hitting percentage with 15 kills. Sophomore Corinne Horanzy followed Nethersole in the Hawks offensive attack with seven kills on 14 attempts with three errors to lead the team with a .286 hitting percentage.  Also adding to the Hawks 44 total kills on the game were senior Maya Louis and freshman Katy Henchy, contributing six and five kills, respectively.  Senior Jackie Tamburri contributed 38 of the 42 team assists.

Defensively the Hawks combined for 68 digs including three players in double figures.  Horanzy led the defense with a game-high 16 digs followed by Tamburri with 14 and Nethersole's 12. As a team, the Hawks tallied four total blocks led by Maya Louis with three block assists and senior Kathryn Gawrych who finished with a solo block.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

·         As a team, the Hawks saw their best offense in their winning third set with a .268 hitting percentage with 15 kills.

·         Nethersole recorded a set high 6 kills in the third set of the match.

·         The Hawks and Great Danes saw seven tie scores and two lead changes along with a combined 52 total digs in the second set.

SET ONE

·         Nethersole led the Hawks offense with three kills.

·         Tamburri added seven assists to the Hawks attack while contributing four digs on defense.

·         Louis, Lavelle, Gawrych, Goodwin, and Henchy had one kill apiece.

SET TWO

·         The Hawks and the Great Danes saw seven tie scores and two lead changes throughout the set.

·         Nethersole led the offense with five kills on 16 attempts with one error for a .286 hitting percentage.

·         Louis and Goodwin added three kills apiece.

·         Tamburri accounted for all 10 Hawk assists in the set.

·         Horanzy led the defense with eight digs followed by Gawrych with five.

·         Nethersole recorded six kills while Horanzy added four.

·         The Hawks recorded 15 digs led by Llerandi with four.

·         Tamburri, Nethersole, and Horanzy added three digs apiece.

·         Tripoli and Gawrych each recorded a service ace.

·         As a team, the Hawks saw their best offense with a .344 hitting percentage with 15 kills.

·         Horanzy and Nethersole led the Hawks attack with three kills apiece.

·         Defensively, the Hawks were led by Tamburri's four digs followed by Nethersole and Horanzy with three apiece.
