THE LEAD: Freshman Ashley Claud broke open a scoreless match in the 80th minute as she put the finishing touches on a rebound to lift the University of Hartford women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Binghamton on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks have won their last two matches and are still unbeaten in league action with a 2-0-1 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
·        Hartford dominated the match from the opening whistle, as it outshot Binghamton, 7-2, in the first stanza. Binghamton keeper Katie Hatzlyianis made saves on all three of the Hawks' shots on goals, keeping the match scoreless at halftime.
·        The Hawks continued to apply pressure into the second half. Out of the break, junior Aaliyah Ingram tested Hatzlyianis 45 seconds in, but the Bearcats keeper was ready to make the save. Five more Hartford shots would be put on the mark before the Hawks would get one through the Bearcats' defense.
·        Entering the match at with 11:47 left to play, Claud got the Hawks on the scoreboard less than a minute later on a rebound with 10:51 left to play. Junior Tori Tripp got the offense going with a shot from 16 yards out, but that attempt was pushed aside by Hatzlyianis. The rebound landed in front of Claud, who was open inside of the box and finished from three yards out to propel the Hawks to the road win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
·        Holding a 7-2 edge in shots in the first half, the Hawks bombarded the Bearcats' defense in the second half with 12 attempts. Overall, Hartford finished with a commanding, 19-7 advantage in shots.
·        Offensively, Hartford had five corner kick opportunities to Binghamton's zero.
·        Junior Jessica Jurg made saves on each of the three shots she faced in goal. Sunday's clean slate was the seventh of the season for the keeper.
·        Jurg's counterpart, Katie Hatzlyianis, had 10 saves for the Bearcats..
NEWS & NOTES:
·        Natale earned his 100th career win as a head coach on Sunday with the Hawks' win at Binghamton. Hired in 2006, each of Natale's wins have come at Hartford.
·        Claud's goal is her second of the season.
·        The Hawks remain unbeaten in America East Conference play (2-0-1) with their second-straight victory.
·        This season, Hartford has shut out seven of its opponents, including its last two in Stony Brook and BInghamton.
·        Junior Jessica Jurg has manned the net in each of her team's seven shutouts this season and improved her career total to 21 with Sunday's defeat of the Bearcats.
·        Hartford has gone unbeaten in nine of its last 10 matches, going 7-1-2 during that stretch.
