THE BASICS:

GAME 1 RESULT: Marist 10, Hartford 0 (5)
GAME 2 RESULT: Marist 5, Hartford 3

THE LEAD:

Colleen McWilliams had five hits, including three home runs, as Marist took a pair of games from the Hartford softball team on Wednesday. Peyton Fisher and Marisa Ferguson each had two hits on the day for the Hawks in a losing effort.

GAME 1: MARIST 10, HARTFORD 0
McWilliams hit three home runs and drove in five runs, and Brooke Peterson scattered two hits in the circle to lift Marist to the game one victory. Lexi Wilkerson and Ferguson each tallied base hits in a losing effort for Hartford.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 1:
• Marist plated four runs in the first, two on a double by Kyrsten Van Natta and two on a home run by McWilliams.
• McWilliams added her second two-run homer of the game in the bottom of the third to make it 6-0.
• The Red Foxes plated three more runs in the frame to push the advantage to 9-0.
• Marist closed out the scoring with McWilliams' third homer of the game, a solo shot, in the fourth.

GAME 2: MARIST 5, HARTFORD 3
Fisher went 2-for-3 and scored a run, but Marist pulled ahead in the bottom of the fourth and held on for a 5-3 win in game two. McWilliams and Van Natta each had a triple and a single and scored a run in the win for the Red Foxes. Gabrielle Kelliher added a solo homer in the victory
 
Kallen Leeseberg collected the victory, allowing four hits and three walks in seven innings of work to improve to 5-1. Wilkerson was credited with the loss for the Hawks.
 
HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 2:
• Kelliher got the scoring started with a solo homer to left in the bottom of the second to make it 1-0.
• Hartford came right back in the top of the third, with Jenice Aloyo's speed forcing a throwing error on an infield single, plating both Kylie Dazalla and Elizabeth Newkirk to take a 2-1 lead.
• Marist responded with two runs on an error and an RBI groundout to move ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the third.
• The Hawks got a run back in the top of the fourth with Fisher delivering a leadoff single, stealing second, moving to third on a groundout, and scoring on a Kristen DeCiantis RBI groundout.
• Marist added solo runs in the fourth and the fifth to garner a 5-3 lead heading to the sixth.

UP NEXT:
Hartford returns home for a weekend series against UMBC, beginning with a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m. and wrapping up with a Sunday contest at noon.
