THE LEAD:
Both games went to extra innings, as the Hartford softball team and UMass Lowell split a Saturday doubleheader in Lowell.
Jenice Aloyo went 3-for-4 in each game of the twinbill, while
Peyton Fisher went 4-for-10 with four runs for the Hawks.
GAME 1: HARTFORD 8, UMASS LOWELL 4
Hartford plated four runs in the top of the eighth inning to come away with an 8-4 victory in game one of the doubleheader.
Danielle DeMarco drove in two of the four runs in the eighth, while
Elizabeth Newkirk had a two-run single with two outs in the top of the seventh to keep the Hawks alive.

Bianca Ross collected the win, allowing eight hits and three walks with three strikeouts for Hartford. Kaysee Talcik was carded with the loss for UML.
HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 1:
• The Hawks scored first with
Sawyer Fried knocking in Fisher on an RBI double in the top of the second.
• UML came right back with three in the bottom of the second, two on a home run by Vanessa Cooper and the third on a wild pitch.
• The score stayed at 3-1 all the way until the seventh, with both pitchers buckling down and repeatedly putting zeroes on the board.
• The Hawks then rallied in the top of the seventh, with
Meghan Wynn singling, advancing to third, and Aloyo drawing a walk. Fisher followed and reached on a two-out infield single to plate Wynn and make the lead 3-2 for UML.
• After
Lexi Wilkerson was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Newkirk delivered a single to left, plating Aloyo and Fisher to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh.
• The River Hawks were able to scrape across an unearned run to tie the game at four and send it to extra frames.
• Hartford rallied in the top of the eighth, the first run coming across on a pair of errors to put the Hawks up 5-4.
• DeMarco then ripped a double to left to score two runs and make it a 7-4 lead before another UML error pushed the lead to 8-4.
GAME 2: UMASS LOWELL 7, HARTFORD 6 (9)
UMass Lowell delivered a walk-off, two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to garner a 7-6 win in the second game of the doubleheader. Wilkerson delivered a two-run, go-ahead double in the top of the seventh to help the Hawks advance to extra innings.

Lauren Ramirez picked up the win for UML, allowing 10 hits and six walks in going the full nine innings.
Melissa Pereira was credited with the loss out of the bullpen for the Hawks.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 2:
• Hartford plated two runs in the bottom of the first on an RBI fielder's choice by Fisher that scored
Kylie Dazalla and Aloyo on an error.
• UMass Lowell came right back with three runs on a hit and an error to take a 3-2 lead.
• Hartford knotted the score in the top of the fourth, when Aloyo beat out an infield single to score
Alex Saharek.
• UML got a run back in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single from Sydney Barker.
• Trailing 4-3 in the seventh, Wilkerson ripped a double to center to plate Fisher and DeMarco to make it 5-4.
• UML sent the game to extras with three straight singles to plate a run in the bottom of the seventh.
• Hartford went ahead with an RBI single from Fisher in the top of the ninth to grab a 6-5 lead.
• Barker delivered the big hit in the bottom of the ninth, plating two runs for a walk-off win.
