THE LEAD:
The Hartford baseball team continued its offensive onslaught, sweeping a doubleheader from UMass Lowell on Saturday, 14-10 and 17-4. For the series, Hartford scored 54 runs on 51 hits over 25 innings against a River Hawks pitching staff that led the conference with a 3.70 ERA coming into the weekend.

It marked an appropriate way to celebrate Senior Day, as the Hawks' nine seniors are already the winningest class in Hartford history with 104 wins in their career.

GAME 1: HARTFORD 14, UMASS LOWELL 10
Ben Bengtson hit grand slams in each of the first two innings as the Hawks jumped out to a big lead and held on for a 14-10 win in game one.
Aaron Wilson added a 3-for-5 day as each of the first six batters in Hartford's lineup scored multiple runs, led by
David MacKinnon's three.
Joe Roberti drove in three runs as well for the Hawks.
Sam McKay collected the win for the Hawks after allowing four hits in five innings of work, striking out three, to improve to 4-2 on the season. Andrew Ryan was carded with the loss after going 2 2/3 innings.

Tyler Noe hit a three-run homer and Andy Savard delivered a grand slam in a losing effort for UML.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 1:
• The Hawks came out firing in the first, with Wilson scoring on a wild pitch and then MacKinnon,
Chris DelDebbio and
Erik Ostberg coming around on Bengtson's first grand slam of the day to make it 5-0.
• UML responded with a three-spot in the second, using three hits and an error to cut the lead to 5-3.
• Hartford fired back with seven runs in the bottom of the second, the first on a DelDebbio RBI double and then four more on Bengtson's second slam in as many innings. The Hawks added two more runs on Roberti's two-run double to make it 12-3.
• The Hawks pushed the lead to 13-3 in the bottom of the fourth, as
Chris Sullivan walked,
Ashton Bardzell singled and then Roberti singled Sullivan home.
• Meanwhile, McKay settled in on the mound, putting zeroes on the board in the third, fourth and fifth to keep the lead at 13-3.
• The River Hawks refused to go quietly, though, adding a grand slam of their own in the top of the sixth and a three-run homer in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to 13-10.
• Hartford got a run back in the bottom of the seventh, when Ostberg singled home MacKinnon to push the lead to 14-10.
• The Hawks closed out the game with
Billy Devito and
Collin Ferguson blanking the River Hawks over the last two innings.
GAME 2: HARTFORD 17, UMASS LOWELL 4
The Hawks scored 10 runs in the first inning and six in the second en route to a 17-4 win in game two of the twinbill to finish off the series sweep. The top three hitters in the Hartford order combined to go 9-for-11 with nine RBI and nine runs in the victory.

DelDebbio led the way with a 3-for-3 day, delivering two home runs and four RBI, while Wilson went 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI, setting the school's single-season record for runs scored. MacKinnon added a 3-for-4 day with two RBI and three runs to add to his single-season hits record.

John Mormile picked up the win for the Hawks to improve to 4-0, going four innings with five hits and two runs allowed without a walk, while
Kevin Tise pitched two scoreless frames. Nick Kuzia picked up the loss for UML.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 2:
• The Hawks came out blazing, with the first seven batters reaching safely, including RBI singles by DelDebbio and Sullivan, an RBI double by Ostberg and a bases-clearing triple from T.J. Ward to take a 6-0 lead.
• Hartford added four more runs in the frame, with Ward scoring on an error, MacKinnon singling home Wilson for an RBI single and DelDebbio drilling a two-run homer to make it 10-0.
• UML got a run back on a solo homer in the top of the second.
• Hartford continued the offensive output in the bottom of the second, plating six more runs.
Billy Walker started the scoring with an RBI infield single and Wilson followed with a three-run triple to make it 14-1.
• MacKinnon added an RBI triple of his own, and then came in on a DelDebbio sac fly to push the lead to 16-1.
• Another solo home run in the top of the fourth made it 16-2, but DelDebbio countered that with a line-drive shot in the bottom of the fifth to make it 17-2.
• UML plated two runs in the top of the seventh to result in the final score.
