THE LEAD:

Sophomore Ashley Claud scored twice in the match's final 11 minutes on Thursday as the University of Hartford women's soccer team surged for a come-from behind, 2-1 defeat of the Siena Saints on Siena Turf Field. Claud drew the Hawks even in the 80th minute before clinching the win with just over three minutes left to play with her team-best third goal of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Siena capitalized on a restart to go out in front by a 1-0 count early in the 11th minute. Hanna Longendyke took the honors on a throw-in from the left, and Gabby Albano covered some green before beating Hawks' goalkeeper Jessica Jurg by curling a shot towards the inside post.
- The Hawks were held to just two first-half shots, but came out of the gates firing in the second half. Blasting the Saints' back line with a plethora of shots, including five within the first 12 minutes of the stanza, Hartford produced several scoring opportunities before capitalizing late in the match.
- Siena keeper Kamryn Peffley came up with saves on three-straight quality attempts from Hartford, but did not have an answer for a rebound that was booted home by Claud for the game-tying strike at the 79:24 mark. Hartford freshman Sierra Stone was credited with the assist, as she forced Peffley to dive to her left and leave the goal unmanned with a rifle that deflected off the post to Claud.
- In the 87th minute, Claud struck one more time to complete the comeback and put the Hawks in front by a 2-1 count. She again put the finishing touches on a rebound, this time booting home a deflected shot from freshman Bridgette Alexander.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- After a slow offensive start that saw the Hawks get outshot by a 5-2 margin, Hartford picked up the attack in the second half. During that 45-minute stretch, the Hawks held a commanding 15-5 lead in shots to finish with a 17-10 advantage on the afternoon.
- Peffley made a game-best seven saves for the Saints, while Jurg recorded four stops for a season high performance.
NEWS & NOTES:
- Claud has had a hand in each of the Hawks' last three goals, as she assisted on Hartford's final score in last Sunday's 4-0 win.
- With Thursday's multi-goal performance, the first of her career, she improved her team-best total to three. Claud is also Hartford's point leader with seven.
- Hartford, which went 3-1-0 on its' season-opening road trip, improved to 4-2-1 in the all-time series with Siena.
- Between the posts, Jurg pushed her career win total to 33, which ranks fifth in Hawks' program history.
