The University of Hartford Men's Soccer team battled Monmouth to a 1-1 draw Thursday night at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium. All of the scoring action took place in a 3-minute span in the first half, as Hartford senior
Udi Cohen put the Hawks on the board with a free kick in the 25
th minute, before Monmouth's Jalil Blalock netted the equalizer just three minutes later.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Hartford took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute when the Hawks took advantage of a foul just outside of the box. Senior Udi Cohen took the free kick and beat Monmouth keeper Chris Seager high to his left.
- Less than 3 minutes later Monmouth knotted the game at 1-1. Jalil Blalock took a pass from Dave Nigro near the top of the box and sent it back through traffic, past diving Hartford freshman goalkeeper Jimmy Slayton.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Hartford dominated play, outshooting Monmouth, 16-9. Hartford also held the edge in corner kicks (6-3).
- Freshman Alexis Triadis attempted a game- and career-high five shots for Hartford. Senior defender Andre Morrison also had three shots.
- Four yellow cards were issued in the game, three against Hartford.

NEWS &NOTES:
Â
- Slayton made his first career start for Hartford in place of David MacKinnon. Mackinnon started the Hawks' first two games, but suffered an injury during Hartford's loss at Maryland on Monday.
- Seager was making just his second career start for Monmouth, following an injury to preseason All-American Erik Klenofsky. Klenofsky broke his hand during Monmouth's season opener.
- Hartford started eight freshman Thursday night: Alexis Triadis, Fredrik Ekman, Mike Balzan, Bastian Stech, Gael Kisombe, Kelechi Akujob, Mads Friis and Slayto

UP NEXT:
The Hawks will get a break before continuing their home stand on Wednesday, Sept. 7, against St. Francis Brooklyn. The Terriers currently own a 1-1-0 record and are coming off a 1-0 loss against Rhode Island. Next week's game will mark the first meeting between the Terriers and the Hawks.
