THE BASICS:

RESULT: Stony Brook 80, Hartford 64
LOCATION: Island Federal Credit Union Arena (Stony Brook, N.Y.)
ATTENDANCE: 2,520
RECORDS: Hartford (6-14, 1-4 America East); Stony Brook (10-8, 5-0)

THE LEAD:
Jason Dunne delivered his best offensive performance in conference play with 22 points, but Stony Brook countered with a balanced offensive attack to remain perfect in the league with an 80-64 victory on Thursday.

Lucas Woodhouse led four players in double figures with 18 points, and he was joined in double digits by Tyrell Sturdivant (14), Akwasi Yeboah (14) and Junior Saintel (13). Saintel delivered a double-double, adding a game-high 10 rebounds. The Seawolves went 22-for-25 at the free-throw line in the win.

Jalen Ross added 14 points for the Hawks, but was the only player other than Dunne in double figures for Hartford. Hassan Attia battled through foul trouble to deliver eight points, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals in the contest.

FIRST HALF:
It was all Dunne out of the gate, as the sophomore started the scoring with a nice cut to the rim for a layup, then added a pair of three-pointers and five free throws in the first 5:22 to give the Hawks a 13-12 lead in a back-and-forth start to the stanza. From there, the teams traded blows to a 21-20 Hawks lead after a George Blagojevic layup.

Stony Brook delivered a run at that point, embarking on a 13-5 rally to open up a 33-26 lead. The Hawks were undeterred, though, as Ross led the squad on an 8-1 run to knot things up at 34-all. But the Seawolves responded with an 8-0 run to close the stanza, entering the locker room with a 42-34 advantage.

SECOND HALF:
After the break, Stony Brook got a three-point play to put the advantage in double digits, and slowly was able to build on its lead, pushing it to 17, 64-47. A nice basket inside for Attia slowed the momentum, but the Seawolves were able to weather every Hawks attack, and got the lead to 68-49 on the strength of Sturdivant, who potted 10 of his team's first 16 points in the half.

The Hawks were able to cut the lead to 16, but Stony Brook delivered another rally to push the advantage to 21. A late Dunne three cut into the advantage, but the Hawks were unable to get any closer than 15 as the Seawolves remained perfect in league action.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Dunne's 13 points in the first 5:22 of game action matched his highest single-game output since scoring 13 on Jan. 2 at Yale. His 22 points were the most since scoring 25 at Boston College on Dec. 9.
  • Ross extended his double-figure scoring streak to 34-straight games, dating back to January of last year. He delivered seven of his 14 points at the free-throw line.
  • Hartford was ice cold from beyond the arc, going 7-for-21 from downtown in the game. Dunne went 5-for-7 in the contest, marking his best career performance beyond the arc.
  • The Hawks forced SBU into 13 turnovers, the Seawolves' most since Nov. 15 against Towson.
  • Andy Ramirez made his second start of the season (Sacred Heart the other), while J.R. Lynch was not in the starting five for the first time since the 2015-16 season finale, also held at Stony Brook.
