THE LEAD:
Behind Rasmus Karlsonn's equalizer in the 70th minute, The University of Hartford men's soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw against Stony Brook on Saturday Afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks put the pressure on early, putting three shots on goal in the first 30 minutes of play. The best Hartford opportunity came off a free kick from Alexis Triadis, Aitor Elena sent a header at the far to the corner of the goal, but was saved by Stony Brook Keeper Jacob Braham.
- The Seawolves took an early in the 36th minute. Eric McKenna sent a long service that was quickly headed in the box by Serge Gamwanya to Rob Bjornholm-Jatta, who sent a header past the diving Jimmy Slayton, giving Stony Brook a 1-0 lead. Â Â
- The Hawks put a pair of shots on goal in a hurry to start second half. Both Karlsonn and Ramon Evans sent in shots, but Braham came through to turn each of them away.
- Off a fast break in 70th minute, Ryan Innes sent a long pass into the box that Karlsonn headed past the diving Braham to draw the match even, 1-1.
- In the final minute of the first overtime period, Bjornholm-Jatta put a shot directly on frame, but Slayton came up with the big save to keep the game knotted at one.
- Alexis Triadis had a pair of grade-A opportunities in the second overtime, hitting the cross bar in his first attempt, which he quickly followed up with an attempt that sailed just high. Â Â Â Â Â
- The Hartford defense held tough during a late Stony Brook attack, which was cumulated by a corner kick in the final 10 seconds that the Hawks kept out of the net, sealing the 1-1 draw.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS & NOTES:
- Stony Brook outshot the Hawks (21-17), but the Hawks put more shots on frame (9-5).
- Karlsonn netted his second career goal.
- Slayton finished with four saves for the Hawks while Braham finished with eight for the Seawolves.

Hartford concludes its two-game roundtrip as it travels to UAlbany, for a rematch of the last years America East Championship game on Friday, Oct. 20, for a 7 p.m. tilt.
