HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a back and forth opening twenty minutes, the Hawks went on the offensive. A pair of shots in a flurry were just wide of the frame, and then Carr put a blast on frame in the 22nd, but keeper Coco Speckmaier turned it aside.
- The game remained scoreless through to the second half, when Hawks keeper Maia Perez came through with the stop of the game, diving to snare a well-placed blast off the foot of Angie Salvi in the 52nd.
- Hartford had several grade-A opportunities late in the second half, but Speckmaier came through to turn aside each of them.
- The Hawks had the best opportunity of the first overtime, as Carr found the ball on her foot inside the 18 off a corner, but her attempt was cleared off the back line by the Catamounts defense.
- Still scoreless in the second overtime, the Hawks converted on their fourth and final corner of the game. Sierra Stone sent the ball toward the top of the six, and it caromed off the scrum, and one-hopped toward the far post. Carr swung and delivered the half-volley with her left foot into the left-hand side of the net to send the Hawks away with the victory.
