SET-BY-SET
• The Hawks and Bulldogs were even early in the first set, but Hartford pushed ahead 10-8 following a pair of aces by Bridges. Hartford pushed the lead to 14-12 after a Bridges block, but Bryant rolled off six straight to take an 18-14 advantage en route to a 25-22 victory.
• Hartford opened an early lead in the second, taking a 7-4 advantage after a block by Brittany Braun and Anderson. The Hawks then pushed it to 11-6 on a Paulina Modestow kill, but Bryant slowly chipped away, finally taking the lead at 17-16. The squads battled back-and-forth to a 24-23 Hawks lead after another Modestow kill, but the Bulldogs delivered the last three points to take the set.
• In the third, Hartford took a 6-3 lead after an Anderson ace, but Bryant called timeout to turn the tide, opening an 11-7 advantage. The Hawks chipped away to a 12-11 deficit, but the Bulldogs rebounded and used a five-point run to push the lead to 23-16. Hartford rallied, as Bridges had three-straight kills to make it 23-20, but that was as close as the home squad would get.
