THE LEAD:
Gabby Alicea's 13 kills led Binghamton past the University of Hartford volleyball team on Friday night. Paulina Modestow led the Hawks with 11 kills on the night.
 
SET-BY-SET

• Binghamton jumped out to early 16-7 advantage before a Brittany Braun block started a 7-to-9 run, cutting the Bearcat lead to 18-13. The two squads went back and forth for the remainder of the set, giving the Bearcats set one, 25-19.
• Bearcats opened the set with an 11-3 run, but off four kills by Jenna Bridges, the Hawks clawed back to 18-15, before the Bearcats went on a 7-1 run to take set two, 25-16.
• The Third set opened with the Hawks and Bearcats trading blows until a block from Katy Henchy and Brittany Braun blew the set open, starting a 10-5 run which ultimately gave the Hawk the third set 25-19.
• The Bearcats came out to a commanding 16-4 lead to open the fourth set, a lead they would not relinquish, taking the set 25-11.

 
BY THE NUMBERS

• Paulina Modestow led the Hawks in kills (11).
• Astrid Mangual Duran topped the Hartford assist charts (22).
