THE LEAD:Â
The University of Hartford baseball team (7-14, 1-2 America East) picked up a long-awaited road victory against the University of Connecticut (16-10, 3-0 American) on Wednesday, claiming a 6-4 win against the Huskies at J.O. Christian Field. It was the fourth consecutive win for the Hawks against UConn, but the first victory in Storrs since April 13, 1993.

Hartford rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take a 6-3 lead in the sixth inning. Freshman designated hitter
Jackson Olson, junior catcher
Erik Ostberg and junior shortstop
Ben Bengtson each had RBI singles in the inning. Ostberg, who entered the game leading the nation with a .493 batting average, went 3-for-4 to lead the Hawks.

The Hawks bullpen came up big for the second straight day. Sophomore pitcher
John Mormile came out of the bullpen to pick up the win for Hartford, striking out one batter in .2 innings of work and reliever
Seth Pinkerton allowed one run through three innings. Sophomore
Billy DeVito worked a scoreless ninth to earn his first career save.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- UConn scored one run in the first on three consecutive singles, with designated hitter Tyler Gnesda's single through the right side plating sophomore catcher Zac Susi.
- The Hawks tied the score at 1-1 in the third when Olson walked, stole second, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on an error.
- The Huskies took advantage of three walks and a hit batsman to push across two runs and take a 3-1 lead in the fifth.
- Center fielder Ashton Bardzell opened the Hawks' half of the sixth inning with a walk, advanced to third on an error and scored on an RBI single by third baseman TJ Ward. Olson tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI single to center and Ostberg drove in a pair of runs with a single to left. Bengtson put Hartford in front 6-3 with an RBI single to right field.
- UConn third baseman Willy Yahn hit a leadoff home run in the seventh, making it 6-4.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Over its past two games, Hartford's bullpen has allowed one run in nine innings, striking out 12 and walking just two.
- Wednesday marked the second consecutive three-hit day for Ostberg Already ranked No. 1 in the nation, Ostberg upped his average to .506 (39-for-77) this season.
- The Hawks have won the past four matchups against UConn, marking the second-long winning streak in the history of the series. Hartford won six straight games from 1990-'93.
- With the win, Hartford has now won back-to-back games for just the second time this season. The Hawks will look to extend their streak to a season-best three games when they visit Maine on Saturday, April 11.

NEXT UP:
Following a string of seven consecutive non-conference games, the Hawks prepare to dive back into their America East schedule on Saturday, April 11 when they travel to take on Maine. The Black Bears (7-15, 1-2 AE) picked up an 8-5 win in the last outing, against UMass Lowell, but that victory snapped a nine-game losing streak that stretched back to March 11.

Maine, of the Hawks' oldest regular rivals, holds an 88-37 edge in the all-time series against Hartford. The Hawks, however, swept the season series in 2016 and have won five straight and 11 of the past 13 against Maine.

The weekend series will begin with a Saturday doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m. Sunday's finale is also set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
