SET-BY-SET
• The two teams traded points to a 5-5 score early in the first, but Coppin State gained the first real momentum, opening a 12-8 lead. The Hawks slowly chipped away at the deficit, though, tying things up at 16 on a Bridges kill. The visitors responded with a 3-0 rally to make it 19-16, but the Hawks fought back once more, as consecutive errors by Bridges put the home squad ahead 22-20. Coppin was able to trim it to 24-23, but the Hawks finished off the set on a block by Dakota Butzler and Braun.
• In the second, the Hawks got out to a strong start with Anderson at the serve, rolling off a 4-0 edge out of the gate. Hartford pushed the lead to 11-4 thanks to a Butzler kill, but CSU cut it back to four at 15-11. The Hawks pulled away with Henchy at the serve, with two Bridges kills and a third by Butzler giving the home squad the momentum en route to a 25-15 win.
• The two teams came out even in the third, but the Hawks staged a rally after the teams were tied at 12, as a Braun and Henchy block put the home squad up 15-12. Coppin State responded by trimming it back to 15-14, but the Hawks delivered six of the next seven points to make it 21-15. Hartford went on to close it out on an Olivia Rougeau kill.
