Gamory Leads Women's Soccer Past Maine, 1-0

ORONO, Maine —Sophomore Gabriela Gamory scored in the 53rd minute to lead the Hartford women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Maine on Thursday night. The Hawks (10-1-2) remain undefeated in America East action with a 3-0-1 mark, while Maine (5-6-1) dips to 1-3-1 in league games.

  • After both teams produced scoring opportunities in the first half, Gamory broke open the match after putting the finishing touches on a cross from junior Kaila Lozada from inside the six-yard box.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Maia Perez compiled four of her six saves in the final 30 minutes to keep the Black Bears off the scoreboard and preserve the clean sheet.
  • Perez, who has seen every minute in goal for the Hawks this season, improved her league-leading shutout total to five with the victory.
  • The Hawks held advantages in shots (9-6) and corner kicks (8-4).
 
HARTFORD NOTES
  • Hartford improves its unbeaten streak to 10 matches (8-0-2) and has posted the program's best record through 13 matches since 2011, when the Hawks went 11-0-2.
  • Defeating the Black Bears for the fourth time in as many meetings, Hartford improves its advantage in the series to 21-7-6.
  • The Hawks also preserve their undefeated record in road games, improving to 5-0-1 with the victory.
