Lindsey Abed scored her 1,000th career point, but No. 4/5 Louisville overcame an eight-point second quarter deficit to top Hartford, 86-69, on the final day of the Southpoint Shootout Saturday afternoon.
Abed becomes the 18th player in program history to score 1,000 points, as Hartford falls to 2-5 on the season. Asia Durr scored a team-high 20 points, as the Cardinals improve to 5-0 overall.

After taking a two-point lead in the first quarter, the Hawks came out on an 8-0 run, capped off by a layup from junior
Sierra DaCosta with 8:35 remaining in the second, giving Hartford a 26-18 lead. The Cardinals responded, tying the game at 31 after a Sam Fuehring layup with 5:26 on the clock. Louisville then went on a 22-5 run to wrap up the second quarter to take a 53-36 lead at the half.
The Hawks attempted to chip away at the Cardinals' lead in the third quarter, outscoring Louisville 11-6 through the first eight minutes, after freshman
Jabria Ingram banked in a shot from the top of the key, making the score 59-47. The Cardinal's however closed out the game, pushing their lead to as many as 21 in the fourth quarter, as Louisville remained undefeated with the 86-69 victory.
NEWS AND NOTES
- DaCosta scored a game-high 21 points for her third game this season with 20 or more points.
- With her one three-pointer, Abed now has 158 career three-pointers, passing Daphne Elliott for fourth all-time.
- Freshman Sierra Smith scored a career-high nine points with five rebounds.
- Louisville had four different players in double figures: Durr, Fuehring (19), Dana Evans (11) and Kylee Shook (10).
