VESTAL, N.Y. – Hartford clinched a berth in the America East Tournament for the first time since 1996 with a 3-1 victory over Binghamton Friday night. The Hawks are the number four seed heading into next weekend's conference tournament.

Jenna Bridges and sophomore
Abby Nash combined for 32 kills for the Hawks, who improve to 11-12 overall and 4-7 in conference play. Gabi Alicea had a match-high 18 kills for the Bearcats, who fall to 5-19 on the season and 3-8 in the America East.
HARTFORD 3, BINGHAMTON 1 (25-21, 20-25, 27-25, 25-19)
- SET ONE: The Bearcats held a one-point lead at 16-15 before the Hawks went on a quick 4-0 run to push ahead 19-15. Binghamton climbed back within one (19-18) before Bridges and senior Paulina Modestow had back-to-back kills to go ahead by three and propel Hartford to the opening set win.
- SET TWO: Binghamton tied things up in the second set with a strong finish, scoring the final four points of the frame for the 25-20 win. The Bearcats hit .237 with 14 kills in the second.
- SET THREE: Holding a seven point lead (21-14), Binghamton looked poised to take a 2-1 lead before Hartford went on a 10-1 run capped off by a block by Bridges and freshman Valerie Diede made the score 24-22. The Bearcats fought off set-point three straight times earning the advantage back at 25-24. The Hawks, however completed the rally, as Nash fired home the ace for the third set victory 27-25.
- SET FOUR: Hartford wrapped up the match in the fourth set, taking a five point lead midway through and not allowing Binghamton to get any closer than three as the Hawks closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth. Hartford hit .250 with 15 kills in the deciding set.
- NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Bridges matched a career-high with eight block assists on the night… Anderson registered a match-high 40 assists… Freshman Alex Lucero recorded a match-high 16 digs … Alicea tallied a double-double for the Bearcats with 18 kills and 12 digs.
