THE LEAD:
A strong sixth inning from Wright State pushed the Raiders past The University of Hartford baseball team, 13-4 in Dayton on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore designated hitter
Jackson Olson led the Hawks, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a quiet opening inning from both squads, the Hartford bats lit up in the second. Back-to-back singles from junior Chris Sullivan and freshman Drew DeMartino led off the inning setting up an Olson RBI double, driving in Sullivan. Sophomore Zachary Ardito reached on a Raiders error, bringing DeMartino in.
- Freshman John Thrasher drove Oslon in when he grounded out to the pitcher before a wild pitch scored Ardito to put the Hawks up 4-0.
- Wright State put themselves on the board in the bottom half of the inning off an RBI single. The Raiders added one more in the fifth inning before breaking through for seven runs in the sixth innings, growing there to 9-4. They would go on to add two runs in the seventh and eighth to take the 13-4 decision.
