Sophomore Jackson Olson and senior Nick Campana both finished with four hits and four RBIs in the Hawks 14-3 victory in game one.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1
  • The Hawks came out of the gate strong, freshman John Thrasher opened the game up with a leadoff single and was later driven in by sophomore Jackson Olson a fielder choice. Senior Nick Campana ripped a double down the right-field line, scoring Olson before being driven in by sophomore Bryce Walker to take an early 3-0 lead.
  • The Retrievers responded in the bottom half of the first, scoring two runs off two hits in to cut the Hawks lead to 2-3 before knotting the game up in second.
  • Thrasher put the Hawks ahead in the fourth inning, lacing an RBI single to left field and scoring redshirt-freshman Tyler Coppo. The Hawks exploded for another four runs in the fourth, tacking on a run in the sixth, seventh and four more in the ninth to take the 14-3 decision.
Game 2
  • Freshman Nicholas Dombkowski and UMBC's Chase Bailey were engaged in a pitcher's duel early before the Hawks broke through in the fourth inning. After TJ Ward reached on a one-out single and driven in by a Campana single to put the Hawks on the board. After stealing second, Campana was driven in on a Sullivan single to left, putting the Hawks up 2-0.
  • The Retrievers responded in the fifth, knotting the game up at 2 off a Collin Stack two-run homer to left before a one-out SAC fly gave them a 3-2 lead, a lead they would hold on to take game two.
