THE BASICS:
RESULT: UAlbany 23, Hartford 5
RECORDS: Hartford (1-6, 0-1 AE); UAlbany (2-7, 1-0 AE)
LOCATION: Bob Ford Field (Albany, N.Y.)
THE LEAD:

UAlbany scored three times in the game's first three minutes and never looked back, as the Great Danes defeated the University of Hartford women's lacrosse team, 23-5, at Casey Stadium. Freshmen Debbie Phillips and Emily Steele recorded multi-goal games for the Hawks, scoring two apiece to pace the offense.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Emma Powlin struck six times in the first half and Kendra Harbinger added three tallies as UAlbany jumped out to a 14-0 lead at the half.
  • The Great Danes tacked on five more goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half to push the advantage to 19-0 before Hartford ended the home team's rally.
  • With 16:31 remaining, freshman Kaitlyn D'Andrea put the Hawks on the scoreboard on a feed from Billy McLaughlin. UAlbany's Paige Werlau answered with back-to-back goals to push the lead back to 19.
  • Hartford ended the game on a strong note, though, scoring five of the final seven goals. Phillips and Steele each struck twice during that stretch, which spanned over a seven-minute stretch.
