THE LEAD:
The University of Hartford baseball team was tripped up by No. 2 Oregon State, 5-0, in Corvallis on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Nathan Florence and Oregon State's Grant Gambrell were engaged in a pitcher's duel early, only giving one hit apiece in the opening five innings.
- The Beavers got on the board in the fourth inning, after Adley Rutschman drew a one-out walk, he made his way to third off a wild pitch and a groundout. Rutschman later scored on a passed ball, putting the Beavers up 1-0.
- Oregon State loaded the bases in the bottom of the second off a trio of one-out singles, which Trevor Larnach took full advantage, blasting a grand slam to left field to give the Beaver the 5-0 decision.
