THE LEAD:
The University of Hartford women's lacrosse team was bested by Central Connecticut, 19-4, in New Britain on Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman
Emily Steele netted two of the Hawk goals, her fifth and sixth on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Devils opened the game on fire, scoring eleven goals in the opening eight minutes of the game. The Hawks defense then settled in a kept Central off the board for the remainder of the half, while freshman Megan Miller put Hartford on the board off a free position shot with 3:34 remaining in the half.
- After a Blue Devil goal four minutes into the half, the Hawks went on a 3-1 run off two goals from Steel and a goal from freshman Kaitlyn D'Andrea to cut the Central lead to 13-4.
- Central scored the game's final six goals to take the 19-4 decision.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Hawks held the advantage from inside the circle, claiming 13 draw controls to Central's 12.
- The Blue Devils doubled up the Hawks with shots (30-14) while putting more shots on goal (26-14).
