Women's Lacrosse bested by Central Connecticut

THE LEAD:
 
The University of Hartford women's lacrosse team was bested by Central Connecticut, 19-4, in New Britain on Tuesday afternoon.  
 
Freshman Emily Steele netted two of the Hawk goals, her fifth and sixth on the season.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
  • The Blue Devils opened the game on fire, scoring eleven goals in the opening eight minutes of the game. The Hawks defense then settled in a kept Central off the board for the remainder of the half, while freshman Megan Miller put Hartford on the board off a free position shot with 3:34 remaining in the half.  
  • After a Blue Devil goal four minutes into the half, the Hawks went on a 3-1 run off two goals from Steel and a goal from freshman Kaitlyn D'Andrea to cut the Central lead to 13-4.
  • Central scored the game's final six goals to take the 19-4 decision.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Hawks held the advantage from inside the circle, claiming 13 draw controls to Central's 12.
  • The Blue Devils doubled up the Hawks with shots (30-14) while putting more shots on goal (26-14).
 
NEXT ON TAP:
Hartford takes on its third straight opponent from the Northeast Conference, as it heads to LIU Brooklyn for its final non-conference game on Saturday, March 10. The Hawks and Blackbirds are slated for a 1 p.m. first draw.
