THE LEAD:
The University of Hartford baseball team fell to Marist, 5-4, in the eleventh inning on Wednesday afternoon in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday afternoon.
Junior
Ashton Bardzell went 4-for-5 with one RBI on the day, while senior Nicholas Campana went 2-for-4, driving in one run and scoring once.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks struck early, after Camana and sophomore Bryce Walker was hit by back-to-back pitches to open the game, RBI singles from Bardzell and junior Chris Sullivan put the Hawks up 2-0.
- The Red Foxes quickly responded, scoring a pair of the third to tie the game at 3.
- Freshman John Thrasher led off the second inning with a double down the left field line and later driven in by a Campana single to left field to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead.
- After Marist tied the game up in the fifth, sophomore Zachary Ardito drive in senior TJ Ward off a sacrifice fly to right, to take a 4-3 lead.
- The Red Foxes tied the game up in the eighth and one the game off a walk-off fielder's choice in the eleventh, taking the 5-4 decision.
