HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- Campana opened the game up in a big way for the Hawks, blasting a solo shot to left field. Junior Ashton Bardzell followed that up with a one-out triple down the left field line, later in the inning before junior Chris Sullivan grounded out to short driving Bardzell in and giving the Hawks an early 2-0 lead.
- After scoring one in the second inning, the Bearcats took the lead in the third. An RBI fielder's choice and RBI Single to left gave Binghamton a, 3-2.
- Hartford quickly drew even in the third as Ward ripped an RBI single, driving in sophomore Bryce Walker, who worked a one-out walk.
- The Hawks regained the lead in the sixth, loading the bases – Sullivan double to left, Ward single to left and a walk from sophomore Jackson Olson – for a bases-clearing double down the left field line by sophomore Zachary Ardito, putting the Hawks on top for good, 6-3.
Game 2
- Just like in game 1, Campana ripped a leadoff home run to give the Hawks an early, 1-0, advantage.
- The Bearcats got the run back in the third. After a leadoff single up the middle, Jason Agresti sent a sacrifice fly to left driving in the first Bearcat run.
- Bardzell ripped his second triple of the day to lead off the fourth inning before being driven in by an RBI single through the left side from Sullivan, putting the Hawks back on top, 2-1.
- Binghamton knotted the game back up in the seventh off an RBI single up the middle, forcing extra innings.
- The Hawks loaded the bases in the eighth inning – a single from sophomore Robert Carmody, a freshman John Thrasher single and a Campana walk – and sophomore Bryce Walker worked a full count walk to drive in the winning run.
