Binghamton Spoils Senior Day for Women's Lacrosse

THE LEAD:
 
Binghamton muscled past the University of Hartford women's lacrosse team, scoring a 24-1 decision on Saturday. With the contest marking Hartford's final home contest of the regular season, senior Caroline Massey found the back of the net to lead the Hawks in her last game at Al-Marzook Field.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
  • Ten different players scored in the first half to help Binghamton jump out to a 10-0 advantage with 13:25 to go in the opening half.
  • The Bearcats continued to rally for the duration of the stanza, tacking on four more scores to go up, 14-0, at the break.
  • Binghamton pushed the lead to 18 goals with 19:17 left to play before put the Hawks on the board at the 17:20 mark. The senior picked up a ground ball at midfield and went the distance for her second goal of the year.
  • The Bearcats ended the game with six-unanswered goals to take the 24-1 victory.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE & NOTES:
 
  • In addition to Massey, goalie Danielle DeMarco was also honored in a Senior Day Ceremony prior to game time. The two were recognized for their contributions to the Hartford women's lacrosse program in its inaugural season in 2018
  • Three Bearcats registered hat tricks, led by Tiffany Ryan's four goals. She added a pair of assists to finish with a game-high six points.
  • Brianna Arthur and Paige Volkmann added three goals apiece for Bighamton, which held a 45-7 advantage in shots and a 33-14 edge in ground balls.
  • Hartford goalie Cassidy Hock, who led all players with four ground balls, made a game-high seven saves.

Hartford concludes the 2018 regular season with a pair of road games, beginning with a tilt at Vermont on Saturday, April 21. Game time from Virtue Field is slated for noon.
