Birdie Montes found the back of the net for the University of Hartford women's lacrosse team, but the Hawks were bested by Vermont, 21-1, on Virtue Field in Burlington on Saturday. Four Catamounts registered hat tricks, led by Jenna Janes, who had four goals and an assist for five points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Elise Koehl and Janes combined for two goals apiece in the first 6:07 to help the Catamounts jump out to an early 4-0 lead.
- The rally continued for Vermont, as seven more goals put the home team up at halftime by an 11-0 score.
- The Catamounts opened the second half with a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 16-0 before Hartford found the back of the net. Montes ended Vermont's run with her fourth goal of the season with 18:35 left to play.
- Using a 5-0 run sparked by goals from five different players, Vermont took the 21-1 decision.

- Cassidy Hock registered double figures in saves for the third time this season, coming away with 12 for the Hawks.
- Elena McWright added four points for the Catamounts, scoring three goals and tacking on an assist.
- Vermont outshot Hartford, 41-4, and held a 15-8 advantage on draw controls.
- Freshman Emily Steele won five draw controls to pace the Hawks, who forced five turnovers in the contest, led by two from Hock and a pair from freshman Kaitlyn D'Andrea.
