The University of Hartford baseball team dropped a non-conference matchup with Rhode Island on Wednesday afternoon in Kingston, 10-2.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks opened strong, as senior Nick Campana led off the game with a hit for the fourth straight game, ripping a single to third. Sophomore Bryce Walker quickly followed up with a double to right, scoring Campana and putting the Hawks up 1-0 early.
- The Rams followed up in the bottom half of the inning, scoring a pair off a one-out two-run single through the right side.
- Rhode Island continued their hot bats in the second, scoring six runs off three hits to extend their lead to 8-1.
- Junior Jackson Olson put the Hawks back on the board in the fifth inning. He worked a one-out walk, working his way around the bases and scoring on a trio of wild pitched, cutting the Rams lead to 8-2.
- Rhode Island added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and held on to take the 10-2 decision.
