LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Hartford women's soccer team downed Siena, 3-0, on Siena Field on Monday for its second-straight shutout victory. Junior forward
Bridgette Alexander recorded a pair of goals to lead the Hawks, who improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Saints, who defeated Seton Hall on opening day last week, fall to 1-1.
HARTFORD 3, SIENA 0
- A failed clear by Siena led to Alexander's first goal, which proved to be the game-winning tally in the 25th minute.
- Sophomore Gabriela Gamory, the reigning America East Offensive Player of the Week, doubled the Hawks' lead before halftime with her team-best third goal in the 38th minute.
- Hartford padded its advantage in the 58th minute when Alexander put the finishing touches on a shot from classmate Kaila Lozada, which hit off the crossbar. She also improved her team-best goal total to three on the insurance tally.
- Sophomore Maia Perez made a pair of saves to earn the shutout victory for the second time this season and fifth time on her career.
HARTFORD NOTES
- With four-straight wins in the series, Hartford improves to 6-2-1 against Siena.
- The Hawks are off to a 2-0 start for the 10th time in program history.
