CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Hartford volleyball team fell in three sets to Boston College in its 2018 season opener on Friday evening. Junior
Jenna Bridges recorded eight kills and three kills to pace the Hawks, while Cat Balido recorded a double-double on 12 kills and 10 assists to lead the Eagles.
BOSTON COLLEGE 3, HARTFORD 0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-11)
- SET ONE: Four-straight points broke open a tied game and provided Hartford with an early advantage at 9-5. The Hawks continued to maintain their lead, building a 19-15 advantage. But Hartford was unable to put BC away, as the Eagles rallied to tie things up at 19-19. With the set tied again at 21-21, BC recorded the final four points to earn the victory.
- SET TWO: After a back-and-forth start, the Eagles rallied to take a 13-7 advantage and never looked back in the second set. The Hawks managed to trim a 10-point deficit (21-11) down to four at 21-17 using a 6-0 run, but their comeback bid came up short as BC scored four-straight points to secure the set two victory.
- SET THREE: Jumping out to a 12-1 lead, the Eagles never looked back, taking the final set by a 25-11 score.
- NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Sophomore Megan Anderson recorded 20 assists to lead the Hawks … in her Hartford debut, Alex Lucero had a team-best nine digs … the match marked Vinh Nguyen's head coaching debut.
