Claud Scores as Women's Soccer Soars Past Manhattan, 3-1

RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Senior forward Ashley Claud scored two first-half goals to lead the Hartford women's soccer team to a 3-1 win against Manhattan at Gaelic Park on Sunday morning. The Hawks improve to 3-1 on the season with their third-straight road win while Manhattan dips to 0-2 overall.

HARTFORD 3, MANHATTAN 1
  • Claud tucked a shot from 15 yards out into the upper right part of the net to put Hartford on the board in the 35th minute. Sophomore forward Rookie Taylor Hennig was credited with the assist for her second of the season.
  • Less than three minutes later, Claud doubled up on Hartford's lead after putting the finishing touches on a rebound from point-blank range following a blocked shot attempt from sophomore Gabriela Gamory.
  • Manhattan answered midway through the second half when Kaitlyn Hogan one-timed a long blast to cut the Hawks' lead in half at 2-1 in the 70th minute.
  • But the Hawks re-established themselves five minutes later after the Saints were unable to clear the ball following a corner kick scrum. Sophomore Magalie Kayrouz improved Hartford's lead to 3-1 and put the match to bed with a blast from in front of the net for her first goal of the season.
  • Sophomore Maia Perez made a pair of saves between the posts to improve to 3-1.

HARTFORD NOTES
