Skylar Vitiello found the back of the net in the 16th minute to lead Hartford women's soccer to a 1-0 victory against Wagner on Al-Marzook Field on Thursday. The Hawks improve to 7-1 with their fifth-straight win, while the Seahawks dip to 1-6.
HARTFORD 1, WAGNER 0
- Vitiello took advantage of a dominant start for the Hawks, taking a pass from classmate Kaila Lozada and finishing from eight yards out in the 16th minute out for her first goal of the season.
- After holding a commanding 11-1 advantage in shots in the first half, Hartford outshot Wagner by a 5-0 margin in the second, but was unable to capitalize on its opportunities.
- Sophomore keeper Maia Perez made one save on the Seahawks' lone shot attempt for her fourth shutout victory of the season, while Delaney Beck registered 11 saves for Wagner.
HARTFORD NOTES
- Hartford remains unbeaten in the all-time series with Wagner, improving to 4-0-1.
- Hartford's 7-1 record marks the program's best start since 2011, when the team went 7-0-1 through their first eight matches.
- The Hawks' current five-game winning streak is their longest since the 2012 team, which put together a six-game rally.
