BURLINGTON, Vt. —The Hartford women's soccer team remained unbeaten in America East action on Thursday, as the Hawks scored a 1-1 draw at Vermont at Virtue Field. With the tie, the Hawks (8-1-2), who are unbeaten in their past seven matches, move to 1-0-1 in America East action, while the Catamounts (3-5-3) also remain unbeaten in conference games at 1-0-1.
HARTFORD 1, VERMONT 1 (2ot)
- Junior Kaila Lozada provided the Hawks with an early advantage in the 10th minute, getting her head on a cross from classmate Skylar Vitiello for her fourth goal of the season.
- Lozada's score was the difference for most of the match, until a free kick by Casey Garfinkel produced the equalizer — a header from Angie Salvi — with just 2:46 left in regulation.
- Senior Ashley Claud had a chance to end the game in regulation, but Vermont keeper Lydia turned the shot away with 41 seconds left.
- The Hawks held a 2-1 advantage in shots during the two overtime periods, but neither team was able to capitalize.
- Sophomore Maia Perez registered four saves between the posts for the Hawks, while Kessel also had four stops for Vermont.
HARTFORD NOTES
- The Hawks' 8-1-2 record marks the program's best start since 2011, when Hartford opened up the season by going 9-0-2.
- Unbeaten in its past nine against Vermont, Hartford moves to 28-5-5 all-time in the series.
