HARTFORD 2, RUTGERS 2
The first half started out quiet as both teams looked to dominate the midfield battle. Hartford would change the tone of the game in the 34th minute, when Drimmer received a cross from Jovante Etienne and rifled home a shot to the left corner, to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead. The Hawks offense would create another golden opportunity just one minute later when
Pablo Basarte saw his shot sail high after a cutback pass from
Rasmus Karlsson. After a calm end to the first half, Hartford took a 1-0 advantage into the break.
Hartford would waste little time in grabbing its second goal of the game as its doubled its lead one minute into the second half.
Connor Aksoz would receive a cross from Etienne and slot it home to extend the Hawks lead and give Etienne his second assist of the night. Rutgers would answer back three minutes later when Pablo Avila cut the Hartford lead to one. The Scarlet Knights would fire off more close chances and would equalize the game in the 66th minute with a Jackson Temple goal.
Neither team would grab the game winner in regulation as the match would head into overtime. The Hawks thought they had the game-winning goal in the 101st minute when
Nick Benjamin tucked home a rebound after
Aitor Elena's header hit the post, but was deemed to have handled the ball and had his goal called back. Hartford would try and win the game late with a flurry of shots on goal, but the game would finish in a 2-2 tie.
