Women's Soccer Scores 2-1 Win Against Maine on Senior Day

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. —The Hartford women's soccer team bounced back from an early deficit to take down visiting Maine, 2-1, on Sunday on Al-Marzook Field. The Hawks (6-5-1) move to 3-1-0 in conference play with their third straight America East victory, while the Black Bears (4-5-1) fall to 0-3-1 in the league.

The contest marked Hartford's Senior Day, as eight members of the Class of 2019 — Bridgette Alexander, Anna Cronin, Kaila Lozada, Sam Nelbach, Karoline Petersen, Madison Stabile, Sierra Stone and Skylar Vitiello — were honored prior to kickoff.

The Black Bears took the lead nine minutes into the contest when Saylor Clark took a pass from Nicole Bailey, turned her defender and found the back of the net. But the Hawks came back to make it a new game before halftime, as sophomore Izzy Lachcik headed home the game-tying goal on a feed from Stone.

Hartford struck again early in the second half on another setup by Stone. On a breakaway, the senior threaded a pass downfield to Vitiello, who one touched the ball past Maine goalkeeper Kara Kutzinski to put the Hawks in front. Hartford's defense held off the Black Bears down the stretch to seal the victory.
