Men's Soccer Extends Unbeaten Streak to Nine With Draw vs. St. Joseph's

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The Hawks extended their unbeaten streak to nine games after coming back twice to earn a 2-2 draw with St. Joseph's on Tuesday. Kamer Nuhiu and Nick Benjamin scored the goals for Hartford. The Hawks now stand at 6-2-3 after picking up their third consecutive draw, while St. Joseph's is now 4-7-1.

HARTFORD 2, ST JOSEPH'S 2
St. Joseph's would start the game off strong when Garret Lyons headed in a corner kick in the 9th minute to give them the early lead. Hartford would not be discouraged as they dominated the rest of possession and quality chances for the rest of the first half. Rasmus Karlsson would have one of the best chances for Hartford as his 26th minute header rattled off the post and out of play. The Hawks would continue to pie on the pressure in search of the equalizer when Sergi Martinez's 36th minute strike was just wide of the post. Hartford outshot St. Joseph's, 7-1, in the first half.

The one goal advantage for St. Joseph's would not last long as Kamer Nuhiu tied the game up in the 48th minute. After drawing a penalty, Nuhiu would step up and send the goalkeeper the wrong way to level the game at 1-1. The rest of the second half would remain quiet until the later stages of the second half. St. Joseph's would take the lead again in the 83rd when Lyons tapped in a shot while inside the six-yard back to give the Hawks the 2-1 lead. With time winding down, Hartford had one last opportunity from a corner kick in the 89th minute. Nick Benjamin would get his foot on the corner kick, sending the ball into the back of the net to level the game at 2-2 and send the game into overtime. Martinez would have the best chance in overtime for Hartford, but his half volley was deflected into the arms of the St. Joseph's goalkeeper. Neither team could manage to find the back of the net in the remaining overtime period as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
