BALTIMORE, Md. — Junior
Abby Nash delivered a game-high 19 kills and
Megan Anderson tallied a game-high 46 assists in the Hartford volleyball team's win at UMBC in four sets in an America East contest on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Hawks improve to 14-12 on the season and 5-4 in the America East, also clinching its second consecutive America East Championship berth.
HARTFORD 3, UMBC 1 (13-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-12)
SET ONE: UMBC jumped out to a 16-6 lead and never looked back, cruising to a 25-13 set win.
SET TWO: Hartford took a commanding 15-4 lead and refused to relinquish it in the set. UMBC battled to cut the Hawks' lead to 24-20 before a kill from
Maddie Lindsay sealed the set win.
SET THREE: With the Hawks holding a slim 15-12 lead, Hartford went on an 8-2 run to take a commanding 23-14 run. The Retrievers cut it to as close as 23-16, but a kill from Nash and an
Alex Lucero ace secured the set.
SET FOUR: Leading 10-7, Hartford went on a 14-3 run to take a 24-10 match point lead. After two straight points from UMBC, Nash secured the win and America East championship berth with a kill.
HARTFORD NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Bridges pushed her career kill total to 1,405 after recording 12 kills … Nash led the way with 19 kills … Anderson compiled 46
