Volleyball Concludes Regular Season With Four-Set Win Over New Hampshire

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Senior Jenna Bridges delivered a game-high 21 kills and Megan Anderson tallied a game-high 41 assists and five service aces in the Hartford volleyball team's four-set victory over New Hampshire in the regular-season finale on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Hawks close the regular season with a 15-12 overall record and 6-4 in the America East, while New Hampshire ends the regular season at 17-8 and 7-3 in the conference.
 
HARTFORD 3, NEW HAMPSHIRE 1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 27-25)
 
SET ONE: The Hawks opened the set with a 5-0 run, backed by two service aces from Greta de Gasper to force a New Hampshire timeout. Out of the timeout, the Wildcats responded with an 11-4 run to take an 11-9 lead. The Hawks responded with an 11-1 run to take a 20-12 lead in the set. New Hampshire cut it as close as 20-15, but Hartford held on for the 25-17 set win.
 
SET TWO: The Wildcats opened the set with a 10-2 run that it would not look back from. Hartford climbed its way back to cut the deficit to 20-17, but New Hampshire was able to withstand the run and held on for the 25-21 set win.
 
SET THREE: With the set tied at 18-18, the Hawks went on a 5-1 run, capped by a kill from Robin Helms to give Hartford a 23-19 set lead into a New Hampshire timeout. Out of the timeout, Abby Nash scored a kill, followed by blocks from Valerie Diede and Nash to secure the set win for the Hawks. Jenna Bridges led the way with eight kills in the set.
 
SET FOUR: Hartford jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, capped by two de Gasper aces. The Wildcats responded with a 7-1 run to tie the set at 7-7. Tied at 13-13, New Hampshire went on a 5-1 run to take an 18-14 lead. After the Hawks tied the contest at 21-21, the two sides traded points to a 25-25 tie. Hartford took the next two points, with a kill from Bridges and a New Hampshire attack error sealing it.
 
HARTFORD NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Bridges pushed her career kill total to 1,126 after recording 21 kills … Her 21 kills gives her eight matches this season with 20+ kills… Nash added 14 kills … Megan Anderson compiled 41 assists and five service aces … Greta De Gasper added six service aces
