Moses Flowers tallied a game-high 16 points while
Romain Boxus finished with a double double as the Hartford men's basketball team took down Marist, 62-51, on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Hawks improved to 2-1 on the year and 2-0 on the road, while the Red Foxes fell to 1-1 with the loss.
HARTFORD 62, MARIST 51
The Hawks started off hot as they started the game on a 9-2 run. Hartford would continue to build on their lead in the first half as
Moses Flowers dominated on the offensive end, scoring nine of the Hawks first 15 points. The Hawks would end the first half on a 11-5 run that was capped off by a
Hunter Marks buzzer-beating three, his second in as many games, to send his team into the break with a 36-24 lead.
Hartford would continue to build upon its lead in the second half as they extended it to 19 after a
Romain Boxus three pointer with 14:10 left in the half. Marist would try and battle back late, but would be unable to close the deficit to single-digits in the final minutes of the half. A pair of Boxus free throws would seal the deal for the Hawks as they held on for a 62-51 win and move to 2-0 on the road this season.
INSIDE THE BOX AND NOTES
- Miroslav Stafl joined Flowers and Boxus in double figures with 13 points on the night
- Boxus put up a game high 10 rebounds while Stafl grabbed nine boards
- Stafl would lead the team in assists with three
- The Hawks would never trail for the remainder the game after Marist took a 2-0 in the opening minute
- Hartford shot 50. percent from the field, and limited Marist to only 31.7 percent shooting
- Michael Cubbage and Matt Turner led the Red Foxes with 13 points each
