Moses Flowers tallied a career-high 19 points, while
D.J. Mitchell chipped in 18 as the Hartford men's basketball team took down Gordon, 86-79, on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Hawks improved to 3-1 on the year and 1-1 at Reich Family Pavilion.
HARTFORD 86, GORDON 79
The Hawks started off hot as they started the game on a 10-3 run. Hartford would continue to build on their lead in the first half as D.J. Mitchell and Moses Flowers combined to score 13 of Hartford's first 30 points. Trailing 39-29 with 2:16 left in the first half, the Fighting Scots used a 10-3 run to cut their deficit to 42-39 at the break.
Hartford would add to its lead with a 9-0 run out of the half, with Flowers scoring seven of the nine to push the Hawks' lead to 51-41 with 17:09 left in the second half. Gordon battled back with a 10-0 run of its own to tie the game at 51-51 with 15:36 remaining in regulation.
Knotted at 65-65, Hartford went on an 8-1 run to take a 73-66 lead with 6:43 to go, that it would not relinquish. The Fighting Scots cut it to as close as 76-72, a jumper from Traci Carter and eight made free throws in the final 30 seconds helped the Hawks hold on for the 86-79 win.

- The Hawks had five players score in double-figures for the first time since doing so against UMBC on Mar. 12, 2019
- Along with Moses' 19 and Mitchell's 18 points, Miroslav Stafl added 12 points, while Michael Dunne and Carter added 10 points apiece
- Romain Boxus led Hartford with eight rebounds
- The Hawks outscored the Fighting Scots 34-18 in the paint
- Hartford shot 44 percent from the field
- Eric Demers led Gordon with a game-high 42 points
