ALBANY, N.Y. — Senior
Jenna Bridges delivered a game-high 27 kills while
Megan Anderson tallied a career-high 62 assists to lead the Hawks to a 3-2 comeback victory over New Hampshire in the semifinals of the America East Championships. With the win, the Hawks improve to 16-12 while New Hampshire ends its season with a 17-9 mark.
HARTFORD 3, NEW HAMPSHIRE 2 (24-26, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17,15-10)
SET ONE: The Hawks opened the first set with a 10-5 lead early in the set. Hartford would continue to build upon the lead, extending it to 14-7 after a pair of kills from
Robin Helms. After cutting the lead to two, Hartford would go onto extending their lead back to six, taking a 19-13 advantage. New Hampshire would battle back, ending the set on a 6-0 run to take the set, 26-24.
SET TWO: The Wildcats gained the lead early in the set, but the Hawks would comeback to tie the set up at 10 a piece. New Hampshire would then go on a 7-3 run, extending its lead to 17-13. Hartford would then go on a 4-0 run to cut the Wildcats lead to one after
Jenna Bridges recorded back to back kills to make the game 23-22. New Hampshire would then win the final two points to take the second set, 25-23
SET THREE: With the Hawks holding a 16-15 advantage in the third set, Hartford went out on a 7-2 run, fueled by three kills from
Abby Nash, to take a 23-167 lead. New Hampshire would battle back late, cutting the deficit to four, but
Robin Helms would get the winning point to give Hartfor the third set, 25-20.
SET FOUR: The fourth set started out as a back and forth affair until Hartford went on a 5-0 run to take a 14-8 lead after alternating kills from Bridges and
Maddie Lindsay to force New Hampshire into taking a timeout. New Hampshire would cut the lead to five, but Hartford would win the final three points off the set to win the fourth set, 25-17 and force a fifth and final set.
SET FIVE: Hartford jumped out to a 7-5 lead in the fifth and final set. The Hawks would then start to pull away, going on a 6-0 run after forcing New Hampshire to commit 5 errors. The Wildcats would battle back going on a 4-0 run of their own to cut the lead to 13-9. Hartford would on hold on, winning two of the last three points after kills from Bridges and Lindsay to complete the comeback and win the final set, 15-10.
HARTFORD NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Bridges finished with a game-high 27 kills to go along with a game-high six blocks …
Abby Nash racked up an impressive 17 kills while Lindsay chipped in 15 kills of her own …
