Miroslav Stafl dropped a season-high 19 points and five rebounds as the Hartford men's basketball team took down Emerson, 78-63, on Thursday afternoon. Freshman
PJ Henry dropped a season-high 15 points, while
Hunter Marks and
Michael Dunne grabbed a game-high six rebounds each.
HARTFORD 78, EMERSON 63
The game started as a back and forth affair with both teams trading baskets. The Hawks would then jump out on an 8-0 run, fueled by six straight points from
PJ Henry, as Hartford held a 17-12 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Henry and Stafl would continue to lead the way in the first half, scoring nine and ten points respectively, as the Hawks entered the break leading, 33-30.
Hartford would breakout in the second half, quickly extending its lead to double digits after a
Romain Boxus three pointer with 15:55 remaining in the second half. The Hawks would stay hot, extending its lead to as much as 22, fueled by six points from Henry. Emerson would try and fight back into the game, cutting the lead to as little as 11 points. Hartford would hold on late as they took down the Lions of Emerson, 78-63. Stafl finished with a season-high 19 points while Henry also dropped a season-high 15 points.
INSIDE THE BOX AND NOTES
- Traci Carter was the third Hawk to score in double digits as he finished with ten points
- Marks finished with a game-high four assists to lead Hartford
- Dunne was a force on defense, finishing with a game high three steals
- The Hawks shot 43.1% from the field on Thursday
- Hartford outrebounded Emerson, 44-36, on the day
- Zach Waterhouse lead the Lions with 16 points
