SAN MARCOS, Texas, — Sophomore
Hunter Marks finished with a season-high 20 points and eight rebounds as the Hartford men's basketball team fell to Texas State, 69-55, in the final game of the Southwestern Showdown. The Hawks dropped to 4-5 overall on the year while the Bobcats improved to 6-2 with the victory.
TEXAS STATE 69, HARTFORD 55
The Bobcats would start the game off on a 6-0 run, but the Hawks would answer back with a 7-0 run of its own, fueled by a
D.J. Mitchell three-pointer to get Hartford's first points of the night. The two teams would continue to trade buckets in the first half as the game stayed evenly matched. Texas State would enter the halftime break leading, 33-24.
Hunter Marks led the Hawks in the opening stanza, dropping 11 points and tallying four rebounds.
Texas State would start off the second half on a 6-2 run to extend their lead to 13 coming out of the halftime break. The Hawks would cut the deficit back to double digits after a huge three pointer from Marks with 11:45 on the clock.
Moses Flowers would have the highlight of the note, coming up with a steal and throwing down a ferocious dunk with 4:24 remaining in the half. The Bobcats would lead by as much as 16 in the second half as they held on to win (score). Marks finished with a season-high 20 points while Flowers dropped 17 points off of the bench.

- Marks 20 points was a new season-high for the sophomore
- Marks would also lead the team in rebounding for the third straight game, hauling in eight
- DJ Mitchell finished with a team high two assists
- Nijal Pearson led the Bobcats with 15 points while Alonzo Sule dropped 14 points
