Women's Soccer Advances to AE Finals Behind Alexander's Game Winner

ALBANY, N.Y.— In a hard fought America East semi-final match up, the Hartford woman's soccer team emerged victorious against UAlbany, 3-2.  Sierra Stone, Victoria Jedrychowski, and Bridgette Alexander all scored for the Hawks on the night.

Hartford came out of the gates hot with a quick goal from Victoria Jedrychowski in the 11th minute. Sierra Stone would double the lead five minutes later with a strike in 16th minute. UAlbany would cut the deficit in half with a goal  by Leah Pais scored in the 31st minute. Neither team would get another great chance at goal as the half ended 2-1.  The Hawks out shot, the Great Danes, 7-4.
 
UAlbany would tie the game at 2-2 off a goal by Meghan Cavanaugh in the 48th minute. It wouldn't take the Hawks long to regain the lead as Bridgette Alexander put the Hawks back ahead with a goal in the 69th minute. The Great Danes would try to tie the game up but Maia Perez would make an unbelievable save in the 81st minute to maintain the Hartford lead. The Hawks defense would stand firm as they held on for the 3-2 victory. This victory sends the Hawks to the America East championship game for the first time since 2016.
