Second-Half Surge Leads Canisius Past Men's Lacrosse

VICTOR, N.Y. – The Hartford men's lacrosse team rallied back from an early deficit to take a halftime lead, but a barrage of second-half goals by Canisius led the Golden Griffins to a 16-12 win inside Pinnacle Sports Complex. Senior Dylan Jinks netted a hat trick for the second time in as many games, as the Hawks drop to 0-2.

Led by five goals from Carter Stefaniak, Canisius improves to 2-2 on the season.

CANISIUS 16, HARTFORD 12
A hot start by Canisius resulted in a 4-0 lead for the home team out of the gates. But Hartford quickly came alive, ending the quarter with five-straight scores to take the edge heading into the second. The run continued into the second quarter, as a pair of goals 14 seconds apart by sophomore Tyler Corpora and freshman Malcolm Bell pushed the edge to 7-4 with 10:20, but the Golden Griffins scored two of the final three goals of the half to close the gap to two (8-6) at intermission.

The Golden Griffins benefited from another hot start out of halftime, scoring all eight goals of the third, including three-straight from Mathi Boissonneault, to take a 14-8 lead into the final quarter. The Hawks would close the gap to two on a 4-0 spurt fueled by three-straight goals by Jinks, but Canisius struck twice within the final five minutes to put the game out of reach.
