Men's Lacrosse Comes Up Short to Marist, 14-13

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior transfer Ty Thompson racked up a career-best seven points, but it wasn't enough for the Hartford men's lacrosse team as it dropped a 14-13 decision to visiting Marist on Tuesday. The Hawks fall to 0-3 on the season, while Marist, which was led by three goals from Joe Tierney, improves to 1-2.

The Red Foxes battled back from an early 4-1 deficit to take a one-goal lead midway through the second quarter, but back-to-back man-up goals from freshman Hunter Krauss inside the final two minutes put the lead back in Hartford's hands at 7-6 at the break.

The Hawks' run continued into the third, as two more scores, including Krauss' third of the contest, helped extend the margin back to three (9-6) with 11:59 to go. Despite Marist coming back to tie up the score three times, the Hawks would not relinquish their lead until Jake Weinman delivered what proved to be the final score of the contest with 3:34 left.

Hartford had an opportunity down the stretch to force overtime, but a turnover followed by a penalty just outside the final minute allowed the Red Foxes to kill the clock and seal the win.
