Hawks Take Two from Hoyas

ROCKVILLE, Md. –Hartford baseball earned back-to-back wins for the second time this season, topping Georgetown, 14-1 and 2-1, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

Senior Chris Sullivan was a combined 5-8 with five RBI and three runs scored, as the Hawks improve to 4-11 overall. Sophomore Ryan Davis finished with three hits and a run scored, as the Hoyas fell to 6-16 on the year.

GAME ONE: HARTFORD 14 GEORGETOWN 1
The Hawks erupted for 15 hits and 14 runs in game one of the series, led by five RBI from Sullivan and three more from junior Nik Pagan.

Hartford did the majority of its damage in the fourth inning, already up 2-1, scoring six runs on five hits. Highlighting the inning was freshman Donnie Cohoon's first career home run and a two-RBI double by Sullivan. The Hawks scored six more runs and only allowed the one run by the Hoyas in the bottom of the ninth to take the 14-1 victory.

GAME TWO: HARTFORD 2 GEORGETOWN 1
The second game was a much tighter affair as an RBI double by Pagan in the first inning was the only scoring for the two teams until the bottom of the eighth when Georgetown tied the game. Junior John Simourian managed to knot things up at one for the Hoyas with a sacrifice bunt, scoring Davis from third.

Senior Drew Holtgrieve wasted little time putting Hartford back on top in the ninth, crushing a solo shot down the right field line, giving the advantage back to the Hawks, 2-1. Freshman Will Nowak shut the door on the win in the bottom of the inning, forcing junior Freddy Achecar III to ground out the second, securing the 2-1 win for Hartford.
